LAURENT AJINA

Laurent Ajina was born in Paris in 1970. Educated as an architect, studying at the University of Architecture Paris La Seine, he finally dedicated himself to Fine Art after attending the Parisian Art School Penninghen. Strongly influenced / inspired by his urban environment, Ajina has developed over his career a vocabulary based on abstract lines, networks and rhythmical systems, strictly executed with a black paint marker. The resulting drawings are at the core of his artistic practice and serve as structural grids for the construction of his works, either on canvas, cardboards or directly on the walls. Setting his playground on 3 different types of surfaces, Ajina experiments with light, volumes and materials. His personal memories are crossed over with his physical experience of space as the artist builds pulsating organic landscapes. He lives and works between Vienna and Los Angeles.
